"Sunlight Laughter"

Ron Kinard © 2003

between the blinds

streams of sunlight

penetrate

illuminating corners

seeking hidden shadows

hiding and seeking

intense rays of light

dancing across the room

playing with the shadows

as the day goes by

evening approaches

the light begins to run

the shadows give chase

encroaching, overcoming

gaining ground on the light

the shadows turn the game around

dancing across the room

the shadows prevail

the light succumbs

darkness takes its place

imagining a childs game

hide and seek

the light being "it"

prevailing in the beginning

tiring, as the day passes

worn out and exhausted

giving up for the day

the shadows

having their turn

turning the tables

chasing the light

only to begin again

the following day

daylight approaches

gray skies, rain, rain, rain

no sun, no light

no place for the shadows to play

without the light

the shadows dont exist

waiting anxiously

remaining quiet

no one to play with

the shadows

void of existence

patiently waiting for their friend

patiently waiting for that

sunlight laughter

Isn't it amazing what a little imaginations will do?
